Growth, with Intention
I don't typically make resolutions. I mean, I try and set goals and complete accomplishments regularly to push myself professionally and personally. But when it comes to my business? I do have some goals for Cairn Guidance. It is intentional that our name, cairn is a marker, or pile of stones that lead or guide. I'll never forgot one of my first students in 7th grade, Charles. He was having trouble concentrating in the classroom and his behavior was disrupting other students. After Read ▸ about Growth, with Intention
#HealthMatters2014
Hashtag Health Matters 2014That's taking up most of my time these days and it's a blast. I work as the content lead for the Clinton Foundation Health Matters Initiative's annual conference that serves to highlight success stories and best practices of individuals, businesses and organizations promoting the health and wellbeing of Americans. It's basically a day of commitments. It's not just people sharing what they hope to do, or what their passion is, but fully committing to new programs, Read ▸ about #HealthMatters2014
Life on the Road…
On average, I travel nationally about 50%. For December and January I will be on the road 78% of the time. I love it. I mean, there are things that get to me like living out of a suitcase versus dresser and running out of travel size toothpaste often enough to have to go back to a Walgreens. But I do enjoy it. Because even though I'm traveling alone, most of the time my contracts bring me to communities or organizations with people I love working with Read ▸ about Life on the Road…

It was my second conversion to the world of social media, the other being LinkedIn. I use both mediums for strictly professional purposes to increase awareness and Read ▸ about Physical Activity Interventions

CHMI Houston Blueprint Event
Clinton Foundation's Health Matters Initiative (CHMI) invited me for the third time to facilitate a breakout session at their third Blueprint Meeting. I not only love working with the CHMI team, but it is inspiring meeting local public health stakeholders, experts and advocates. I have had the opportunity to facilitate this process in both Coachella Valley CA and Little Rock AR prior to facilitating Houston's Blueprint Meeting. New Opportunity for Cairn Guidance!
As we open our doors again for work after a three-month bicycle-trip sabbatical, a great opportunity has come our way. I have been asked to serve on the Board of Directors at RMC Health in Colorado. I am honored to have been asked to participate in an advisory roll for this innovative non-profit within the school health field.I initially worked with RMC Health (previously Rocky Mountain Center) when I was working at the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) in 2004.
