The Dove Self-Esteem Project offers an incentive every project year for those who complete our Confident Me! feedback survey, this years winner was Rocky Flint. Rocky is a PE teacher from Oklahoma and this year the Dove Self-Esteem Project provided the funding for his trip to TAHPERD. Check out Rocky’s experience below!
I am so grateful for the opportunity that the Dove Self-Esteem Project gave me to attend the TAHPERD 100th Conference this year. I could never have attended this conference without their financial backing. I am in my 6th year teaching and this conference was the biggest networking opportunity I have ever had. I became a teacher to be a difference maker in students’ lives. I want to see my students grow personally and fall in love with living a healthy lifestyle. I met with a lot of PE vendors to see the new equipment that teachers are using. I attended over 15 workshops and some of the ones I learned the most from were: parachute games, classroom management, soccer skills, creative elementary health, Christmas games, and games for big classes. Personally, the best part of the conference for me was meeting teachers from all over the state who want to make a difference in their students’ lives like I do.
