As always, please reach out if you have any questions.
Deep Dives into the Health Education Standards
This week is the last opportunity to sign up for this awesome training series, starting on Monday, October 2, 2023. We have offered this multiple times for clients and opened it up to others around the country! We will be co-facilitating this with RMC Health. Each of the eight sessions takes a deep dive into one of the National Health Education Standards. Sessions will be recorded and shared to participants that are registered. The registration link is here. We have a great group already registered and some spots still open!
Systems Thinking; Systems Changing Simulation
We are available to facilitate this engaging professional development opportunity for grantees working on creating sustainable change in their school systems, and is perfect for education leaders, grantors, and partners of education. This simulation will be available for purchase and will include a Facilitator’s Guide in the coming months. However, we are available to facilitate it for your group anytime! Contact us for more information, or go here to learn more.
EDI in Recess & Physical Activity: A conversation about lessons learned and alternative approaches
Physical activity and recess have played a significant role in the functioning of students for centuries. However, the duality of physical activity and recess are often underfunded, and under-resourced, creating environments for inequitable practices. With this information, our 60-minute interaction will dive into the equity components of recess and physical activity. This will include physical activity to deter negative classroom behavior, alternative punishments to removing recess, and highlighting WSCC as a framework to support DEI in school communities. Join Sterling Ta’Bon, the Healthy Schools Manager for Cairn Guidance on October 12 at 7pm EST! Register for this no-cost webinar here.
Blaze Webinar; A Coordinated School Health/WSCC Approach
Join Kevin Lorson, Sterling Ta’Bon, and Jess Lawrence for a 45 minute overview on our Blaze Approach. This is our facilitated journey we take districts and Departments of Education through to create systemic change for school health. For more information, feel free to check out this document and we encourage you to register for this opportunity here!
Tools/Resources
We have updated our health education Performance Assessment Toolkit. This is a tool for health teachers to use while developing skills-based health education performance assessments. Feel free to use and share with others! We do offer trainings related to developing assessments, and in fact, have a professional development training coming up with a large urban district working with their secondary teachers to develop end-of unit assessments that will be uniform throughout the district.
Our Skills on a Ring (SOAR) are very popular! Our first big order is almost completely sold out, selling over 850 sets since spring of 2023. We are in the final stages of editing our SOAR Booklet that includes over 200 middle and high school activities using the SOARs. For more information and to order these, go here.
