Cairn is super busy with current clients and some exciting new upcoming contracts!
We have just been notified that we will be presenting two sessions in Bend Oregon at the School Employee Wellness Conference in March for OEA Choice Trust. Jess will share her information on creating sustainable staff wellness programs as well as moderate a panel of school health champions sharing they staff wellness success stories.
Just this week, we entered into a contract with Mississippi First, an organization that works on education, policy and research within the adolescent sexual health field. We will be consulting with them on developing a statewide cadre of trainers to build their capacity in offering strong, effective sexual health professional development to educators around the state.
SHIFT NC has hired us to come facilitate the Systems Thinking; Systems Changing (TM) simulation for a community that is working on sexual health promotion. The hope is that the community is able to address some challenges and opportunities within a systems and research-based approach.
Jamie Sparks and Jess will be headed to Nebraska next month to work with 5 school districts around two topics. Jamie will be focusing on Comprehensive School Physical Activity Programs and Jess will be helping districts process how implementation of their ETR HealthSmart curriculum is going to address challenges and barriers.
Jess will be keynoting SHAPE Southern District’s conference in February in Williamsburg VA. Her keynote Do Something Extraordinary addresses key lessons learned on her journey and how those lessons relate to school health work in schools, public health, and as leaders. Jess is able to custom the keynote to a target audience. There are photo and video accompaniments with her presentation to demonstrate a narrative that incorporates the balance of work and play. In her keynote, Jess includes a personal call to action and has participants up and moving around throughout the hour-long presentation. Jess hopes to give a voice to where audience members have been, where they are now, and where they are going, both personally and professionally.
Cairn is writing a research paper for Robert Wood Johnson Foundation on the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model. Jess is also consulting with the organization on a convening they hope to hold in the spring, bringing thought-leaders in school health together to advise RWJF on their future work supporting schools.
Cairn is working with the Oregon Department of Education to update their new school nurse manual and develop an effective, engaging 1-day training (and booster) to acclimate new school nurses in the environment, bring awareness to the policies and procedures they will most likely utilize.
Jess is again speaker manager/content lead of the Clinton Health Matters Initiative Activation Summit in Palm Springs, CA in January. She is just starting to work with the team at the Clinton Foundation as they start working with the moderators and speakers for the event.
Finally, we have some work in Howard County and Prince Georges County Public Schools, Maryland in March. We will be working with their secondary health educators on facilitating role playing in the health education classroom and some work around standards and assessment.
We are thrilled to be so busy through the winter and excited about some upcoming pending work- in CA, KY, MD and HI!
