This past Saturday, I helped coordinate, facilitate and keynote an event with Prince Georges County Public Schools (PGCPS), the 19th largest school district in the country. We were fortunate to have three essential organizations represented. All shared the support their initiatives may provide the district, the schools and even the teachers. Sean Slade from ASCD, Chidimma Acholonu from Alliance for a Healthier Generation and Amy Shipp, Tiereny Lloyd and Kat Krtnick attended representing Let’s Move Active Schools. Each organization had an opportunity to build off the other, starting with ASCDs Whole School Whole Community Whole Child model (WSCC). This model builds on the elements of the coordinated school health model and the whole child framework.

PGCPS is considered a graduated Alliance for a Healthier Generation; Healthy Schools Program district, with 4 years of direct technical assistance and support. At this point, it’s time for them to sustain! During this past Saturday’s event, I had the opportunity to keynote and discuss some of the best practices that will help schools sustain their school health work.

Always incorporating movement throughout the day!
