20th Year of Cairn, Cairn Guidance, Systems Simulations

Ready to Lead Systems Simulations?

The school year is wrapping up, but not without two cities experiencing the Systems Simulation experience from Cairn Guidance!

This month, we had the opportunity to facilitate Systems Simulations with educators and teams navigating real-world change in both Bechertown, Massachusetts and Las Vegas, Nevada.  Watching participants play the game affirmed that no matter the district, charter, city (or timezone)…

People don’t just need more information about change. They need opportunities to experience how change actually feels.

And that’s what makes simulations different.

When participants step into the dynamics of systems change – navigating resistance, communication breakdowns, competing priorities, relationships, and decision-making in real time – conversations shift. Teams begin to recognize patterns they’ve experienced in their own organizations, often in ways that traditional professional development simply can’t replicate.

Again and again, we hear:

“This helped me see change differently.”

“I finally understand why implementation gets stuck.”

“This gave our team language for conversations we’ve struggled to have.”

As interest in the simulations continues to grow, so does interest in learning how to facilitate them.

That’s why we’re excited to share the October 2026 Training of Trainers (TOT) experiences in Louisville, Kentucky.

This fall, Cairn Guidance will host two immersive, in-person Training of Trainers experiences. Many participants choose to attend both experiences, as the simulations offer different perspectives and facilitation opportunities.

Why Attend a TOT?

The Training of Trainers experience is not just about learning the mechanics of gameplay.

Participants also explore:

Most importantly, participants gain confidence facilitating conversations about change, resistance, systems thinking, and organizational learning.

Whether you are:

  • A school board member
  • A principal
  • A teacher
  • A curriculum coordinator
  • A public health partner
  • A district administrator

…the TOT is designed to help you bring these experiences back to your own teams and communities.

What We’re Hearing From TOT Participants

“This training challenges assumptions and current practices. It reminded me that first and foremost conversations make a difference in supporting and implementing change.”
